Did you know that mantra is consciously directing the mind with the support of the sound?
Here are some general things about mantra; benefits and meaning of some mantras used at Kundalini Yoga class.
Our emotions affect our mood, behavior and relationships. When chanting mantras, we produce specific vibrations that create emotional and mental balance. Chanting mantra is Naad Yoga.
Naad is the essence of all sounds and Naad Yoga is the experience of how sound vibrations affect the body, mind and spirit through the movement of the tongue, the mouth and the changes in the chemicals in the brain. The tongue’s movement stimulates the meridian points in the mouth transmitting impulses directly to the brain. Behind this process sits a great quantum technology of sound that alters consciousness, called Shabd Guru and has special patterns that stimulate the hypothalamus and change the chemistry of the brain. It adjusts the endocrine system and metabolism to create a neutral balanced mind and strong immune system. It’s the sound current as Teacher dissolving that part of the ego that prevents us from acting from our authentic self.
Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo – is called Adi Mantra, adi- primal, first, mantra – directing the mind through sound vibrations.
Why is it important to chant it every time and before the practice of kundalini yoga?
This mantra centers you into the higher self and reminds your mind that it’s not your ego that will practice Kundalini Yoga. It is an invitation to your higher self to take the lead and guide the course of the experience. It also links you to the Golden Chain. The Golden Chain is the frequency created by that inner spark of kundalini achieved by those who have taught this technology. By chanting this and linking yourself consciously, the kriyas and meditations that you practice are guided by your higher consciousness and the higher consciousness of those who have humbly set aside their egos to teach. You become very receptive and sensitive to the messages of your body, mind, and intuition.
Satnam is the mantra that contains the seed of all knowledge and awakens the soul, revealing your destiny. We close the practice with Satnam to make a bridge from the practice to daily life, to take with us within daily activities the awareness of our true essence, it is the bridge to continue manifesting the neutral mind, which is the meditative mind, the one that assesses everything with objectivity of the soul and decides what actions are to be taken considering what your soul truly needs and how each action or inaction serves to your soul.
Always grateful to share yoga knowledge,
Valentina
